We have upgraded the traffic signals at the following junctions:
- Havant Road/Eastern Rd/Farlington Avenue
- Copnor Road and Burrfields Road
- Fratton Road/Lake Road and St Mary’s Road
Improvements include upgrading the traffic signals with sophisticated Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation (MOVA) technology, replacing existing vehicle detection equipment and adding new low-level early-release cycle signals to the junction.
The installation of the MOVA system will improve traffic flow by generating its own signal timings depending on traffic levels, dispersing traffic as efficiently as possible.
Next steps
A new bus priority system will be included in the second phase of the scheme.
