Bus travel in Portsmouth is free for all passengers every weekend in September in Portsmouth.
As part of our Bus Service Improvement Plan, designed to improve bus services in the city, Portsmouth City Council has collaborated with local bus companies, First Solent and Stagecoach, as well as Pompey Link, to offer free travel every weekend in September. This will be available on all bus services when getting on the bus within the Portsmouth boundary (it does not include Park and Ride).
You can get on any bus that starts within the Portsmouth boundary. This includes bus routes, 1, 2, 3, X4, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 20, 700 and HV, as well as the Pompey Link. Portsmouth Park and Ride is not included in the scheme. If you’re not sure whether a bus stop is in Portsmouth, check for the Portsmouth Buses logo (pictured).

You can take the bus for free all weekend, starting from the early morning on Saturday at 12.01am, until midnight on Sunday.
Pompey Link is a bookable local bus service, available on demand for short journeys between Paulsgrove and Port Solent. From Port Solent, you can also travel to the bus stops at Cosham Interchange and QA Hospital. The service will shortly be expanding to cover journeys between Cosham and Port Solent. Journeys can be booked up to four days in advance by telephone (0333 015 1271) or via the Book a Journey app.
