Pompey Link - on-demand transport service

Pompey Link is an on‑demand shared minibus service connecting Paulsgrove, Port Solent, and Cosham, providing easy and affordable transport for people living, working and visiting these areas. This includes areas not currently served by other bus routes.

Pompey Link is funded by Portsmouth City Council as a pilot project until March 2028, funded by the Portsmouth Bus Service Improvement Plan. The service is operated by local charity Community First.

How it works

We stop at bus stops in Paulsgrove, Port Solent, Cosham Interchange, Queen Alexandra Hospital, Tesco North Harbour and Hilsea Lido. Book a journey and our minibus will pick you up and drop you off at your closest bus stop.

Operating hours

There are now new operating hours, which are starting on Monday 13 July:

  • 8.45am–7.15pm, Monday to Wednesday
  • 8.45am–9pm, Thursday to Saturday
  • 10am–5pm, Sundays (excluding bank holidays)

Journeys are first‑come, first‑served. Pompey Link is a shared service, so the bus may pick up and drop off other passengers travelling in the same direction. You can book on‑demand or up to four days in advance.

How to book

Book using the Book a Journey app, the online portal, or by calling Community First on 0333 015 1271. Phone lines are open 8am–4pm, Monday to Friday.

Book a trip with the Book a Journey app

  • Download the Book a Journey app from the Apple store (iPhone users) or Google Play store (Android users)
  • Create an account
  • Choose your territory – this will be shown in the app as ‘Pompey Link’
  • Use the ‘where are you going?’ bar to type in your destination, or choose a bus stop from the map. The app can also use your current location to suggest a bus stop.
  • The app will show you the earliest departure and latest arrival times, as well as the ticket price
  • When you have made a booking, you will be shown live updates on where your bus is and when it will arrive
  • Pay on board using cash or contactless card payment

If you need to cancel or make changes to your journey, you can do this easily in the Book a Journey app or by calling Community First. Journeys can be cancelled or changed up to 10 minutes before departure.

Journeys are booked individually, so if you would like to make a return journey, you will need to book this as a separate trip.
