The Headteacher at Highbury Primary School has asked us to explore the possibility of a School Street on Dovercourt Road, from the junction with Highbury Grove.
A School Street is a road leading to the school gate where vehicle access is restricted during school pick-up and drop-off times. This creates a child-friendly route that allows pupils to travel more safely.
Even walking or cycling part of the way to school helps children feel more alert and ready for the day than driving to the school gate. School Streets enable families to do this safely and allow everyone travelling through the area to enjoy safer, cleaner, more pleasant streets.
We want to ensure that this proposed School Street is a success for everyone, so we’ll carefully consider the needs of the people who live in, work in, or visit the area, and its potential impact on surrounding roads.
