The Portsmouth Bus Service Improvement Plan aims to transform the accessibility and affordability of bus services within the city.
As part of the plan, Portsmouth City Council has collaborated with local bus companies First Bus Solent and Stagecoach to extend young person’s discounted bus tickets to people under the age of 19.
Following feedback from bus users in the city, these fares are designed to make it cheaper and easier for young people across Portsmouth to use the bus to access training and education opportunities, as well as getting to and from work and leisure destinations.
The ‘Pompey Young Person’ ticket range includes single tickets, return tickets, day passes, 7-day passes, and more, offering child fares for young people up to age 19. The discounted ticket options are available on both First Bus Solent and Stagecoach South buses. More information about the ticket categories can be found below.

First Solent buses: buy a ticket on the First Bus website, on the First Bus app, or directly from the bus driver when you get on.
Stagecoach buses: buy a ticket on the Stagecoach website, on the Stagecoach app, or directly from the bus driver when you get on. If you are aged 16-18 please make sure you buy the Young Person version of the ticket, not the Child version.
