We’re replacing bus shelters at the following locations at the end of June 2026
- Outside Carnegie library on Fratton Road, close to the junction of Alver Road on 22 June 2026
- Outside 334 London Road, close to the junction of Battenberg Avenue on 23 June 2026
- Outside Alexandra House, Northern Parade, close to the junction of Doyle Avenue on 24 June 2026
- Outside 315 London Road, close to the junction of Ophir Road on 25 June 2026
Works are weather dependent and are subject to change.
These works are part of routine maintenance to replace the bus shelter. Work will take place between 7pm and 5am and will be carried out by our contractor, JCS. They will keep noise and disruption to a minimum wherever possible. While the work is underway, the bus stop will be suspended.
These works are part of a larger plan to improve bus services across the city as part of the Portsmouth Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
According to the latest figures from the Department for Transport (DfT), Portsmouth has seen over a 53% rise in bus passengers over the past 3 years and is recognised as a leading city for encouraging people to travel by bus. Our aim is to make taking the bus more reliable, more affordable, and more accessible, and improving bus shelters across the city is an important part of this work.
