Portsmouth City Council is working with Bauer Media Outdoor UK to upgrade bus travel across the city, starting with the installation of 27 enhanced bus stops in 2025 and 2026.

These new stops are designed to improve the everyday experience of bus travel by offering a range of features, which may include:

  • Smart lighting and improved seating
  • Real-time travel updates and QR codes
  • Free public WiFi and defibrillators
  • Living Roofs and eco-friendly finishes
  • Clear signage and e-scooter docking points

Not every stop will include every feature. Each location has been carefully assessed to ensure enhancements are tailored to local needs, site conditions, and passenger demand.

The goal is to make everyday journeys more comfortable, connected, and safe. whether you’re commuting, heading to the shops, or exploring the city.

Alongside this, hundreds of existing bus stops are being upgraded to improve accessibility, visibility, and overall passenger experience.

This project is part of a wider plan to support greener travel and make public transport easier and more attractive for everyone in Portsmouth.
